Early spring hiking on the Klein Furkahorn — the easy 3000 m summit sitting right above the Furka Pass. Nothing more to the day than that: out early in the season, on a peak I usually come to for the slabs.

T3+ to T4 depending on conditions / ↗ ~600 m from the pass (2429 m) / Uri granite blocks and scree

The normal line goes from the pass opposite the Hotel Furkablick, over the Galenbödmen towards the Furkastock and its military installation, then up the south ridge to P. 2814. From there a short drop, then block terrain and an easy block ridge, cairned in places, to the summit at 3026 m — the same Uri granite the slab routes on the west flank are made of.

Sources put the normal route between T3+ and T4 depending on conditions, with roughly 600 m of ascent from the pass. Early in the season that is the whole story: scree and blocks under old snow, no markings worth relying on, and the pass road itself normally stays shut until June.

Logistics

Approach

Furkapass (2429 m) on the Realp–Gletsch road, then straight up the north side towards the Furkastock. About 1.5–2 h to the summit in summer conditions.
