Rickhübel - Skitour from Langis

A ski tour up the Rickhübel above the Glaubenberg pass in Obwalden. Straightforward, well-trodden winter ground, taken at an unhurried pace.

The line follows the Glaubenberg pass road out of Langis, past the barracks, before turning off left and climbing through forest and open clearings. It is gentle, popular terrain, and on a good day you share it with cross-country skiers and snowshoers lower down. Higher up the trees thin and the last pull leads to the base of the summit, with the final fifty metres or so to the cross on the ridge.

Nothing technical here, just a steady, scenic winter afternoon on the Obwalden plateau, southeast-facing and quick to gain the top.

Parking

Park at Langis (1442 m), roughly 1.5 km east of the Glaubenberg pass. Also reachable by bus.

Approach

From the Langis car park follow the road towards the Glaubenberg pass, past the barracks, then break off left and climb through forest and clearings to the foot of the Rickhübel, finishing up the ridge to the summit cross.
