Piste Skiing - Sörenberg, Brienzer Rothorn

Sörenberg sits at around 1,160 m at the head of the Entlebuch valley in the canton of Lucerne, inside the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere, with the Brienzer Rothorn (2,350 m) — the canton’s highest summit — rising directly above the village to the south and the karst wall of the Schrattenfluh (2,092 m) to the west. This was a day of lift-served skiing there.

Lift-served pistes: 42 km total — 24 km blue, 10 km red, 8 km black / 14 lifts / 1,188 m vertical

The ski area is usually described as two halves joined by a piste. The Schwarzenegg side rises east straight out of the village and holds most of the gentle terrain — around 500 m of vertical of blue and easy red running, plus the Rossweid area with its children’s zone, night skiing and toboggan runs back to the valley. The other half runs further up the valley towards the Brienzer Rothorn, where a cable car from Schönenboden and a four-seat chairlift (in service since the 2018/19 season) open up over 1,000 m of vertical and the more serious on- and off-piste terrain, including two red runs from the top.
