Rock Climbing on the Lagazuoi Piccolo
A day of rock climbing at Lagazuoi. I kept no record of the line we were on, only of the wall.
Lagazuoi Piccolo, ~2300 m / South face, Passo Falzarego
Sport 4a–7b, most around grade 5 / single pitches 15–30 m / longer trad lines UIAA III–VIII / reef dolomite
The site already has three routes from the year before on this mountain — Via dei Proiettili and Cengia Martini and the Via Giordano on Il Trapezio — so I know the ground reasonably well: reef dolomite, compact, vertical or a touch overhanging, sunny until evening.
What I do not know is what we climbed on this day. The note says only “Laguozi, Dolomity rock climbing”. The south face under the cable car holds over forty single pitches from 4a to 7b, most of them around grade 5, alongside the longer trad lines at UIAA III to VIII, so it could have been almost anything. I would rather leave it open than put a grade on a route I cannot name.
