Gersau Klettergarten

Rock climbing at the Gersau Klettergarten, the sunny limestone above Lake Lucerne in canton Schwyz. A short late-October day of single-pitch routes.

Gersauer Klettergärten, ~880 m / Sunneplättli, south-facing

Sport, single pitch / walls 6–25 m / limestone / most routes 4b–6c+, hardest to 7b+

The crag is south-facing limestone in open pine forest, all single pitch, walls of 6 to 25 m. Rock is rough and pocketed, well bolted since the 1995 re-equipment. Most lines sit between 4b and 6c+, with a few up to 7b+ — I did not write down which ones we climbed, so I will leave it at the range.

Low altitude and full sun make this a shoulder-season crag, and late October suits it well. Fires and smoking are banned here; the forest is dry.

Approach

Drive up from Gersau to the Cholerboden parking, then the gravel road toward Ober Trid. Roughly 200 m past the stream crossing a cairn marks the turn-off left, over boulders and up to the wall. 10 to 30 minutes depending on sector.
