Nidlenloch Cave

Nidlenloch - a karst cave in Switzerland, in the Jura Mountains.

The cave entrance is located at 1274 meters above sea level on the north-western flank of the Weissenstein. The system has a total length of 7561 m and leads down to a depth of 407 m. The cave was first mentioned in 1828. In 1909, it was considered the deepest cave in the world.

Logistics

  • Parking lot at the restaurant Hinter Weissenstein. Official info.
  • Sunday driving ban. The road is closed in winter. Parking spaces are also limited.
  • An approximately 1:30 hour hike (yellow) leads from Oberdorf to the restaurant.
  • Entry fee ~6 franks
  • The entrance is located approx. 5 minutes north of the restaurant.
